Video: Scenes From the Tromsø Sky Race

The 2015 edition of the Tromsø Sky Race went down last week, with top trail runners from around the world descending on Norway to take on an epic mountain running challenge. The video below gives you an idea of what this race is about, sharing two-minutes of footage of the runners as they make their way along a trail that looks both challenging and beautiful. This is not a race for beginning trail runners to say the least, but it is a rewarding experience for those who take part.

Video: Winter in Lofoten, Norway

Lofoten is an archipelago located in Norway's Nordland district. It is remote, rugged, and beautiful, particularly in the winter. In this video, filmmaker Tommaso Maiocchi takes us to that stunning place and gives us a glimpse of the landscapes found there. His timelapse images show mountains, valleys, coastlines in spectacular fashion, while dramatic skies, complete with rolling clouds and the aurora borealis, hover overhead. This is an enchanting look at a stunning destination that promises adventure for any who visit.

Video: A Photographic Adventure Through Norway

The Arctic north of Norway is the subject of this video, which was shot in February of this year. It does a wonderful job of bringing the landscapes and communities of that part of the world to life through stunning timelapse images. This is a place where winters are long, and harsh, but the scenery is breathtakingly beautiful too. The four minute video captures the spirit of the Norwegian north nicely, and will inspire you to want to visit there too.

Video: Skiing A Rad Couloir in Norway

The Øksehogget Couloir in Norway is the scene for this harrowing video that follows a bold skier down a wild, narrow chute. The couloir was named the raddest in all of Norway last year, and it only takes one look at it to understand why. It runs at an angle of between 45º and 50º, at an elevation of 600 meters (1968 ft), delivering a wild ride along the way. Don't try this at home kids. The results could be bad.

Video: Total Solar Eclipse from Spitsbergen, Norway

Yesterday we had a fun little video of a snowboarder enjoying some time in the backcountry of Norway while the total solar eclipse occurred last week. Today, we get a wonderful timelapse video of that phenomenon that was shot above the Arctic Circle in that same country in Spitsbergen region. This short clip – less than two minutes in length – gives us a wonderful view of the eclipse in a fantastic setting. Enjoy!

Video: Snowboarding in a Total Solar Eclipse

As I'm sure many of you know, last Friday a total solar eclipse occurred over Europe, bringing some unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for those who had the opportunity to witness it. In this video, one adventurous person trekked out into a remote region of Svalbard in Norway to capture the eclipse on video and then snowboard down a mountain while it was still taking place. His excitement over what he is seeing is endearing to say the least, and the landscape that he chose to shoot his video in is spectacular. This is a great example of someone taking advantage of the moment and creating a wonderful adventure for himself. One that he'll remember throughout his lifetime.

Video: Explore the North - A Journey Through Norway

Last year, filmmaker Theo Gove-Humphries spent some time traveling through Norway, documenting the landscapes that he found there. Along the way, he captures some of the incredible places that he discovered using timelapse photography. The result of his hard work is this 2+ minute clip that is amongst the most beautiful that I have ever seen. It is a visual postcard for what Norway has to offer, and makes a case for why we should all go visit. Simply spectacular. Don't miss this one.

Video: Promo for the Tromso Sky Race in Norway

This video was shot as a promo for the Tromso Skyrace, a series of trail runs that will be held in the Tromso, Norway region this summer. The evens will be run through some of the most spectacular scenery in Europe, at a time of year when the midnight sun will provide light for nearly an entire day. The setting looks spectacular and the trail looks suitably challenging, which should make this an incredible experience for all who enter. It seems like Tromso is an amazing place to go trail running, and the organizers of this event are putting together something special.

Video: Mountain Biking Norway

This far too short video gives us an amazing glimpse of what it is like to mountain bike near the Fjords of Norway. The footage was shot in the incredible looking Romsdalen Valley, which looks to have some amazing trails for riders to explore. The clip appears to be a promo for Visit Norway that is meant to entice visitors to the region. I'd say it will be fairly successful judging from what I've seen here.

Video: Exploring Norway with a Wildlife Photographer

This video takes us on an incredible journey through Norway with wildlife photographer Michael Martinez has he goes in search of the perfect shots of animals in their natural habitat. He finds plenty of wildlife to shoot, but it is the stunning landscapes of Scandinavian country that will leave you breathless. The clip takes us to some truly wild places, with amazing images of those remote destinations. Beautiful.
