Video: Mainland New Zealand

Shot on New Zealand's South Island, this timelapse video features some great shots of the spectacular landscapes found there. Images were captured near Mount Cook, the Te Anau Basin, and Central Otago, amongst other places. This seems like a fitting way to close out the week, and perhaps inspire a bit of wanderlust at the same time. I hope you enjoy!

Video: Exploring Iceland by Drone

If there is a place that seems perfect for exploring via drone, it is probably Iceland. The country is filled with spectacular landscapes that include mountains, glaciers, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Those places are all captured nicely in this short video, which was shot using a DJI Phantom 3. As you'll see, the results are fantastic, giving us views of these wonderful places that we couldn't normally get on our own.

Video: Explore Wild Alaska

Want to know why Alaska is called "The Last Frontier?" Than check out this video that was shot in the southern part of the state just last month. It features stunning landscapes of remote and wild places, amazing wildlife, and breathtaking settings that are found far from any human settlements. Video: The Hidden Beauty of Slovakia

Eastern Europe is filled with some of the most breathtaking landscapes that you could ever hope to see, although many of them are unknown to outsiders. This video takes us to once such location. Known locally as Janošik´s Holes, this place is tucked away inside Mala Fatra National Park in Slovakia. As you'll see, it is a place of indescribable beauty, which happens to derive its name from a legendary bandit by the name of Juraj Janošik who reportedly used this remote location as a hideaway. After watching this clip, you'll get a better understanding why he escaped to this amazing destination. Enjoy.

Video: Lose Yourself in Nature and Adventure

This video is a reminder to all of us of the importance of getting outside, communing with nature, and finding our own adventures, wherever they might take us. It is filled with amazing images from the world around us, including mountains, hills, and streams. But it is the words of the narration that will hopefully stick with you long after you've watched the three-and-a-half minute clip. Those words urge us to explore our planet, and they are wise words indeed.

Video: More Beautiful Drone Footage From Iceland

Just in case you need further prodding to visit Iceland, this video may help in that regard. It features more stunning landscapes captured by a DJI Inspire drone and filmed in 4k. As usual, the footage features some of the most beautiful and wild places imaginable, in a country that is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty.

One of these days I'll go to Iceland myself. As with most places I haven't been to just yet, it is definitely on my list.

Video: Drone Flights Over the Mountains of Brazil

This video takes us to Pico do Cristal, the 5th highest mountain in Brazil to give us a beautiful look at a remote region of that country that is seldom visited by outsiders. The filmmakers behind this project took a drone with them to capture footage from the landscapes that surround the peak, and the results are simply stunning. There is always something mesmerizing about hiking above the clouds, and watching them drift by below. Something that we see prominently here. Enjoy this tranquil look at an amazing place.

It contains spectacular shots of the landscapes found there, as well as some of the wonderful wildlife that exists on, and around, the Antarctic Peninsula. Video: Planet Patagonia in 4K

It is often said that Patagonia – the wild region in southern Argentina and Chile – is one of the most spectacularly beautiful landscapes on the planet. It is difficult to argue with that sentiment after watching this clip, which features three-and-a-half minutes of stunning footage from this amazing place. Timelapse images of the Patagonian mountains, rivers, and glaciers show us an almost otherworldly destination that remains as alluring today, as it ever has in the past. Video: Hong Kong by Timelampse

When we think about Hong Kong, many of us conjure up visions of a massive, thriving city jumping with traffic and millions of people going about their busy lives. While that is true of the Hong Kong's urban center, the city also happens to be surrounded by an incredible amount of natural beauty as well. This video captures some of that setting, showing us that although HK is one of the most vibrant cities on the planet, it is also just a short distance from some outstanding wild spaces too. This timelapse gives us a glimpse of those places, and the beauty that exists there.

Video: The Peak - A Visual Tribute to the Matterhorn

The Matterhorn stands 4478 meters (14,692 ft) in height, and is one of the most iconic mountains in the entire world. Its distinctive look has served as an inspiration for adventure for centuries, and even though it was first climbed back in 1865, it still lures many mountaineers to this day. This video is a visual love letter to that peak. It features striking imagery from the mountain itself, and the surrounding landscapes. While we often cover far flung expeditions to the Himalaya, the Andes, and other mountain ranges on this blog, the Alps remain one of the most beautiful destinations on the planet with plenty of fantastic adventures still taking place there to this day. Enjoy this short film, and marvel at one of the most famous mountains on the planet.

Video: Winter in Lofoten, Norway

Lofoten is an archipelago located in Norway's Nordland district. It is remote, rugged, and beautiful, particularly in the winter. In this video, filmmaker Tommaso Maiocchi takes us to that stunning place and gives us a glimpse of the landscapes found there. His timelapse images show mountains, valleys, coastlines in spectacular fashion, while dramatic skies, complete with rolling clouds and the aurora borealis, hover overhead. This is an enchanting look at a stunning destination that promises adventure for any who visit.

Video: The Earth in Motion

This beautiful video uses timelapse images to capture all of the motion that is taking place around us, even if we don't happen to notice it. Stars move across the sky, the wind blows through the trees, rivers and streams flow, and so on. There is movement taking place around us at all times, and it is an indication of life unfolding across the planet. We don't always take the time to recognize the importance of these forces at work, but watching this clip will remind you that they are there. I hope you enjoy.

It takes us on a timelapse journey across the breathtaking landscapes of that country, giving us an all-too-brief glimpse of the possibilities for adventure that exist there. Video: A Journey to Antarctica

Antarctica is the most remote destinations on the planet, so most of us never get a chance to go there. But in December of 2014 and January of 2015, filmmaker Kalle Ljung traveled to the frozen continent, and captured some amazing footage from his journey. The 8-minute video below is a compilation of his work that gives us a glimpse of the breathtaking landscapes that can be found there. Ljung says that his journey began in Ushuaia, Argentina and proceeded to Port Williams in Chile, before rounding Cape Horn and crossing the infamous Drake Passage. Over the course of 16 days in the Antarctic, he was able to film some amazing places using a GoPro camera and DJI Phantom 2 drone. As you'll see, the results are spectacular.

In this latest edition of the Earth Porn video series we travel to the Badlands of Alberta, Canada where we see landscapes that are starkly beautiful in their simple settings. Ariel footage takes us through a series of open flatlands and canyons, giving us a bird's eye view of the countryside, which is awe inspiring with its diversity and complexity. This short clip is mesmerizing in so many ways, and is a good reminder of just how amazing our planet truly is.
